My hands: put them back,
Where they always used to be,
Bend me in my waist, rest my
Eyes over at thee.
Wrap me in your merchandise,
Put me by the door,
Staring at the desolate,
I beseech, entreat, implore.
Lift chin with your hands bare,
Keep my poise at rest,
Move my body, tear me down,
And leave me to protest.
Detach me into pieces scorner,
You hope for it to sting?
Try to hurt me human dear,
I’ll never feel a thing.
Dress me all you want to,
Peel my pearl white skin,
You wish for me to feel the pain,
But I’m left a mannequin!
~stranded, but not alone~

This is eerily beautiful and thought provoking! It feels like I’m looking through the mannequin’s eyes. And the rhymes are bang on!

Very interesting. We like to believe we are masters of many beings and objects, but who knows what silent defiance they may hide.

Thank you so much. I absolutely agree. We are indeed masters of many beings but we don’t know what they feel. Humans have even treated other humans as mannequins and that is really disturbing…

Very thought provoking. Beautifully written with your timing, use of metaphors, and rhythm drawing us in. I think we have all felt as though we have been treated inhumanly at one time or another. As if we have no emotions or feelings at all.
It is a painful thing which you capture in this piece, yet we move forward. So well written Shanyu. I love the truth in this piece. Wouldn’t it be nice if no one ever had to feel this way again.
Blessings to you and all your loved ones my friend. Love 💕 Joni

Hey Joni, I guess I had some weird thing here, my comment just ended abruptly. I have it figured out and just posted it.
As for the poem, yes, I truly agree. I hope no body has to ever go through this feeling and I hope it isn’t true. But aw shucks, it is and all one can do is stay strong.
Thank you for your kind words. You are so kind dear friend. So so kind. Thank you for being here.
Looking forward to coming across you in the future.

I am so glad to hear the meaning of the poem right as I had rehearsed in my head coming from a reader. You got exactly what I was going after. It always is disheartening how a human can be treated less human by his own kind. And yes, so many times do we fall into the hand of being mannequins, mere spectators of the game of life.
Exactly what I was going after. I agree when you say that it would be such a better place if no one ever had to feel this way. I hope nobody does.
Peace to you and and all your loved ones. You really made my day!
Shanyu.

I remember reading this poem and being in complete awe. This was one of the first few of your works I read. Thanks for posting it again dear friend.
“Wrap me in your merchandise,

Loved these lines💛
You have a very wonderful way with words. You use such simple metaphors and convey such deep meanings, it always amazes me. The way you have compared an inhumane treatment with a mannequin, is just splendid! Each line is so powerful and expressive. I love this poem a lot
Take care,
