The foamy sea
Salt on me
Foam on me
Salt in the sea.
Azure sky
Seagulls high
And I’m high
And seagulls fly.
My legs in sand
White flour on land
My legs on land
White flour is sand.
Breeze hits skin
World’s on a spin
And then I spin
When wind hits skin.
Nature’s flow
Life’s on a go,
Don’t let it go
Become the flow.

Japanese life philosophies keep blowing me away. Their very essence of simplicity and positivity fills me with awe. I wrote this piece keeping in mind the great philosophy of Wabi-Sabi :
“Wabi-sabi is an intuitive appreciation of a transient beauty in the physical world that reflects the irreversible flow of life in the spiritual world. It is an understated beauty that exists in the modest, rustic, imperfect, or even decayed, an aesthetic sensibility that finds a melancholic beauty in the impermanence of all things.”
-Andrew Juniper
Because of the philosophy’s focus on transience, asymmetry, and imperfection, I took up an eccentric rhythm for the piece, that reads in a certain quick cadence, much like some moments in life. As I read the poem aloud, I frequently felt the need to add weight to it. To make it less volatile. But one thing I take away from the philosophy is a very simple fact:
Beauty is imperfect. Beauty is impermanent. And beauty is incomplete.

Magnifique !
I like your prose … it’s a beautiful style of writing !
Have a good afternoon !

Beaches are such a great place to study the beauty of transience. The form of your poem works wonderfully for catching that ebb and flow feel too!
