Our very hefty Christmas dinner

Isn’t Christmas just a wonderful time of the year? The air is heavy with the celebration, the joy, the aroma of wonderful dinner. Ah! It’s just a day past Christmas, and I can’t wait for the next one to arrive.

From a very recent conversation with a fellow blogger, I got this wonderful line, “Christmas was quiet. Full of memories. Full of next year.”

Mine on the contrary was loud and vibrant, but what really caught my eye was the wondrous effect of Christmas on all of us. We may not celebrate it in the same way, but we are always making memories. Always etching a little bit of color in our rather monotonous lives.

Not many might like holidays, but while I do, I might as well live them to the fullest.

Christmas means loads to me, and so does Christmas dinner. I have wanted to write an elaborate food story too, for Christmas, but I don’t think my words can do justice to the magic it weaves in my life and neither do I want to steal away the focus of you guys, from this meal, that I am absolutely proud of. I’ll leave you to the pictures, but I might as well say that no matter how hard things get, I hope we all have the time and courage to find little reasons to celebrate. To pump color. And to fill our earthly experience with as many cookies as we can!

The wonderful pea and mint soup.
Roasted pumpkin agnolotti with baby spinach and walnut. (Believe me, it tastes absolutely out of this world.)
Baked vegetable Au gratin with luxuriant Bordeaux.
‘Pink love’ and ‘Blue marble’ sugar cookies. (Pink love sounds like a song never made for some reason.)
Some wonderful Christmas fruit cake loaded with spice.
The intricate Bûche De Noël (Yule log), with some “dessert” mushrooms. (Takes loads of hardwork, but worth it.)
The same Bûche De Noël with “snow”.

All in all, it was one heavenly dinner, I bet. It could not have been possible without the wonderful support of my mommy, dad, and sister, so I thank them with all my heart.

As for you guys, I hope you will let me know what you think of the pictures and the menu. Please feel free to write to me for recipes or sharing your bit of love and advice.

Till later folks!

Am I to understand that you have cooked this Christmas dinner yourself?
If so then you are talented and you must remember my suggestion of a cookery book. When can I buy it?

Yes, I should say it is a family deal. Each one of us has contributed to the making of it. I was infact part of making the menu, some prep and dressing/plating the dishes along with the photography.
Lol. Let me think about that Joanna. Pretty sure I want to publish a poetry book first.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Dazzling and mouthwatering! And it’s so great to see fruitcake on display! I don’t know why fruitcake gets so much hate, I love it and it’s just not Christmas without it!

Thank you so very much friend. Fruitcake is really really good. I have come across some really dry ones, or some that are too heavy with booze. But if made perfectly, it is absolutely delicious. Do you have a favourite way if making it?

  13. These look delicious! I’m especially curious about the pea and mint soup. I’ve enjoyed both flavors separately, but I never thought of combining them. It certainly sounds like a way to make it feel more Christmasy!

Thank you so very much. They tasted just amazing. Now pea and mint works just so so well. Put in a little bit of lamb fat and you are in heaven. Literally.
