When it hurts,
And all is lost,
When eyes go damp,
And dreams are tossed.
When all you see,
Is bleeding snow,
There is this thing,
You ought to know.
That life is cruel,
This world is small,
And fate goes laughing,
At us all.
Only those that,
Hold on will stay,
For what is meant,
Will find its way.
So take a step,
And fall and stand,
For what is life,
But passing sand?
Close your eyes,
And take a leap,
You’ll either float,
Or face the deep.
For life throws lemons,
When you expect them least,
Under the skin of a beauty,
Lie the bones of a beast

Great poem. Fate does laugh at us, and life can be painful. You have to take that leap into the unknown or sink in into despair.

Very well put. I very much agree with the last words. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking time to write this stunning comment. Many cheers.

This said it all..and I loved your last lines especially. When I was younger, I used to say Life was a three-legged-dog,It has its moments of loyalty but you can never expect it not to limp. Now I have lived a bit more, I realize, I’m still glad to be alive:) I really enjoyed this!

This is really a beautiful comment to read at the moment. You’ve said it rightly. Life can be that sometimes, but I guess it still is very very beautiful.
Thank you so much for the heads up. I hope you’re doing well.

WOW, this is beautiful and masterfully executed. I’ll divert some of the blows. I want you to be happy.
I love the finale.
“For life throws lemons,
When you expect them least,
Under the skin of a beauty,
Lie the bones of a beast”
Very powerful.
Sending you love, chocolate, oranges (no lemons) and plenty of hugs.

Right when I was at your stunning piece today, did I find this heart touching comment.
Aye aye! Thank you so very much dearest friend. I am so glad you like the piece. The end was seemingly difficult for me to construct. With the pace of the previous stanzas, it was a challenge to end it well.
Thank you once again. And yes, the chocolate is amazing. I wouldn’t ask for lemons at all, especially after we got so many from our garden tree. Let’s hope for some lemony desserts soon.
Take care.

My dearest Shanyu, the poem is masterfully done. It’s always a pleasure to read you. I also want you to be ok. Please know that. Lemons in your garden? Ah, the perfume of the leman flowers and lemony desserts. I can’t wait.
I’m sending you more love!
xoxo

It always means so much dearest G! Really really grateful. I thank you for your concern. I am very well here. And I wish the same for you. Are you okay?
Lemons are truly serene. The other day I made some lemon blossom caviar, came out real good. The leaves too, are fragrant and warm.
Love

oh, I am glad you are ok. As for me I ruptured one of my ligaments in the left ankle so I am in bed. It’s not good.. but it’s going to get better. What can I say?
“lemon blossom caviar,” Ay… It sounds divine.

That must be devastating! How did it happen my friend? I hope it isn’t too bad. Please get well soon.

The time has but blinked an eye, in its persuit of what you may think is your lifes journey.
The old are engulfed in their pursuit of death but its the living that find themselves surrounded by his deeds, that’s why by calling him the grim ripper sometimes makes it easier.
We are never contented in being, but we are alway looking for truth in the wrong places, it the night of the full moon. Man has no clear answer for why it pulls us inside the door of the under world.
The fallen angles have all given names but why doesn’t man ever here of them. In the house of the Lord he has a bench for everyone who wants to come into the light of truth.

Shanyu, an exquisite poem! Like everyone else, I especially like the finale. This poem demonstrates a very well-developed understanding of life. The illustration pairs nicely with the poem. 🙂 Hope school is going well!
