In this plastic world,
If you tip over and fall,
Shatter to a million pieces,
Can never stand tall,
You are porcelain,
And you will be flawed,
Called imperfect, fragile,
Walked over and clawed,
And then will you end up,
Broken for life,
Your pieces strewn over,
Waiting in strife.
Unless;
You wipe your tears,
Step out in the cold,
Find all your pieces,
And dust them with gold,
Just a piece after piece,
As you’ll piece yourself back,
You fell having nothing,
Now there’s nothing you lack!
Imperfection is real,
Real is beautiful!

What a delightful share … imperfection is absolutely fine … and broken things can be fixed!
Nice to meet you and welcome to WP π

Awesome poem ππΎππΎππΎ Keep living! A wise Man once told me a simple statement which literally saved my life from a choice of suicide… from a place of hopelessness I grad a simple flash of light and road that beam to freedom. The statement which is profoundly simple is, “As long as you are Alive; YOU ALWAYS HAVE HOPE” That simple short yet powerful statement pulled me out of darkness and holds me to this day. I hope by me sharing this small part of my story. Foe anyone whoms life seems dark right now hold on to that simple statement and begin to cherish everyday Gifted to you. LIFE is an Eternal Experience… Don’t waste your Time here… Live Love and LEARN

So far of late, of they whom have chosen to follow my poetic reflections on my Poetry on a CanapΓ©, the beauty of your creative and singular poetic manner, tops everything Iβve read since memory permits recall. Thus so, apart from subscribing to your blog site, I will respond with a piece of mine also dealing with βimperfectionβ though coming at it somewhat differently, 15 years ago, to possibly arrive close to where yours rests nowβ¦I humbly suggest! Here it is;
β Being Perfect β
β within ones imperfections β
Thereβs perfection
In my intent,
And high purpose
Of objectives,
Tho often I fail reach
Dedication I so seek,
That which heighten
Held pursuit
To avoid mediocrity,
Ever poised to posture
Over looming insufficiencyβ¦
Thus I struggle
To construct,
Words of import
As meritorious I must,
Apposed in a fashion
To inspire interaction,
Being perfect my resolve,
Like a more inspired fellow
May find within ones imperfection!

Your beautiful writing made me aware of kintsugi which is close to wabi sabi – to embrace and find beauty in imperfection. I love the idea, from your poem, of gathering the broken pieces from one’s life and dusting them with gold. The way you see the world is beautiful.

Hi Leslie! Actually kintsugi is a subdivision of wabi Sabi which talks about beauty in imperfection. Your kind words have made me smile friend! I’m so glad to have you here and leave this lovely comment. Thank you for everything. Have a fantastic day.

Love this!, and utilize Kintsukuroi of Self in my Tarot practice.
βYou fell having nothing,
Now thereβs nothing you lack.β
We are all more valuable or having been broken. Instead of being put back together with motion hindering scars, inner golden splendor well up to fill the spaces between the breaks, the areas between tectonic shifts, and we celebrate that our experiences through life bring us more into connection with it.
Your poem is lovingly exquisite. I feel the gold, silver, and platinum between the lines as they connect the verses.

This is fabulous! I love the philosophy behind kintsugi, that breaking is not ruination but a chance to reinvent through repair. We would indeed do well to apply the same concept to people.

The comment is equally so! I was instantaneously in love with the philosophy myself. Turns out, scars are something to show and not hide and breaking does not necessarily mean dying. Thanks and G’day.

Such a beautiful poem. It reminds me of Kintsugi, the art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted with gold. It’s a wonderful metaphor for life and honoring the journey. Well done.

Re reading your poem is a real treat. A world of plastic in which we trip and fall… pieces of us waiting in strife…. WOW. Splendid! Such a profound piece. And then the naked truth:
You fell having nothing,
Now thereβs nothing you lack!
Bravo my friend. It’s philosophical, it’s atmospheric, it’s poetry at its best.
Sending you love and o kiss.
