You must not have directly, but there’s so much to learn from everybody around us. I can certainly say I learnt a lot about love poems from you and I can say that for other genres in context to other poets too. After all, we are this big fat family in which every member has so much to give.

What a wonderful metaphor you have chosen for being in love! Filled with helium is just how we feel..Lighter than air..capable of miracles, (even going to the moon if we have to:) That joy has to be lived to be described, and you do that so well, in this sweet romantic poem of weightlessness and love! I don’t know. It feels like a love story gone too quick honestly. Although it goes well with how young love is: quick and volatile, maybe it’s the jump?
I honestly cannot frame it, but as long as my readers can connect to it, I think it’s okay. Do you find it incomplete?

I found the poem subtle and beautiful, lyrical…poetically awesome!!
Yet…at the same time so hearbreakingly disheartening that such a pure and soulful love would only be allowed to survive in lunar soil… 😦
Such a lunatic fate or decision if you ask me! Someone should definitely take the lead!
So, maybe what the poem is missing is a last stanza explaining what happens when one of them takes the lead and they finally get to Helium dance to endless songs.
Just an idea. It could also be a follow-up poem too 🙂
In any case, definitely connect to it…

Wow, you really did get where I was going with this piece. Yes, beneath all these fancies of love, I wanted to portray that. Lovers, apart on Earth but they’ll always have the moon.
Oh yes, that’s what it was missing maybe. What is the fate of these hopeless helium romantics.
They maybe get up to the moon and carve their names on the dark side. Lie on lunar soil and make ash angels. Perhaps, even watch the earth rise and set. Two lovers United on the moon. I wonder what happens when one of them realises that they’re out of helium.
But yeah, that would be sad, no?
Thank you for the heads up. I just might write a follow up, though I wonder, aren’t most goods things incomplete? Isn’t it true not all lovers meet?

Thanks for asking mate, I’ve never had a blog. There was a time of great interest in my writing, but my Conan-like short-stories were not rousing the interest of publishers as much as a story about a group of pre-pubescent Brits who went to wizard-school was.
But I have taken up the pen again and learned to share thoughts with other ‘young’ writers to help polish all of our work.

Thanks a lot for your interest, Shanyu. Finding time to go through all of my storage and archives, including some dusty boxes in my cupboard, the only remains was ink on paper.
I’ve begun writing sometimes again but you’ve inspired me to re-type those old ones and show them around a bit.
A little editting is natural, to reflect the 23 odd years that have passed since I wrote them.
